The Motor Insurer's Bureau (MIB), who compensate victims of uninsured drivers, is facing its first rise in claims for over a decade.
The MIB is looking at why they have increased, there was an almost 10% rise in cases submitted in the year to July, after declining since 2004.
In 2017 the MIB are expecting to pay out £256m from money provided by insurers, which adds an average of £15 to each policy premium.
